Cave 5: after ascending some steps there are Shal Bhanjikays on both sides of the entrance gate.

Cave 6: is two storeyed, the only Vihara of its kind. The influence of domestic architecture is plainly suggested. There are numerous Buddha figures in varied studies.

మహాబోధి ఆలయం

                 మహాబోధి విహారం           గౌతమ బుద్ధుని జీవితానికి సంబంధించిన ప్రధాన నాలుగు క్షేత్రాలలో బుద్దగయ చాలా ముఖ్యమైనది. మిగిలిన మూడు  కుశీనగర్, లుంబినీ,  సారనాథ్ .        బుద్ధగయ భారతదేశంలోని బీహార్ రాష్ట్రంలో పాట్నాకు దక్షిణాన 110 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉంది. ఇది ఒక ముఖ్యమైన పురావస్తు ప్రదేశం కాదు.ఇది బౌద్ధులకు అత్యంత పవిత్రమైన ప్రదేశం. 2600సంవత్సరాల కిందట నేటి బుద్ధగయను ఉరువేల అని పిలిచేవారు. ఇది ఫాల్గు నది ఒడ్డున ఉంది .        బుద్ధుని బోధనలు తెలుసుకొని అశోక చక్రవర్తి అశోక బౌద్ధునిగా మారాడు.చక్రవర్తి అశోకుడు  బుద్ధగయలో 288 BCE లో ఒక స్థూపాన్ని, మహాబోధి విహారాన్ని  నిర్మించాడు. ఈ విహారం కుషానుల కాలంలో క్రీ.శ.2వ శతాబ్దంలో తిరిగి నిర్మించబడింది.  ఒక శిలాఫలకాన్ని నిర్మించారు. మహాబోధి విహారం భారతదేశంలో కనిపించే పురాతన ఇటుక నిర్మాణాలలో ఒకటి. బోధివృక్షం కింద జ్ఞానోదయం జరిగిన ఖచ్చితమైన ప్రదేశాన్ని గుర్తించడానిక...

త్రిపిటకాలు (Tripiṭakālu) అనేవి బౌద్ధ ధర్మశాస్త్రాలలో అత్యంత ప్రాముఖ్యమైన ధర్మగ్రంధాలు. ఇవి బుద్ధుని బోధనలు, నియమాలు, ఆచరణల సమాహారం. "త్రిపిటకాలు" అనే పదం పాళిలో "త్రి" అంటే మూడు, "పిటక" అంటే బుట్టలు లేదా గుంపులు లేదా విభాగాలు అని అర్థం. అంటే మూడు విభాగాల గ్రంధ సమాహారమని అర్థం. త్రిపిటకాలు మూడు భాగాలు : 1. వినయ పిటకం  2. సుత్త పిటకం  3. అభిధమ్మ పిటకం 1. వినయ పిటకం ( Vinaya pitakam) ఇది భిక్షువులు, భిక్షుణీల కోసం రూపొందించిన నియమాలు, శీలాచారాలు, సాంఘిక నియమావళి మొదలైనవి ఇందులో ఉంటాయి. బౌద్ధ సంఘంలో శాంతి, క్రమశిక్షణ కోసం ఇవి అవసరమైనవి. 2. సుత్త పిటకం (Sutta Piṭaka) ఇది బుద్ధుని బోధనల సంకలనం. ఇది నికాయాలు( చాప్టర్స్)గా విభజించబడి ఉంటుంది: దీఘ నికాయ (Dīgha Nikāya) మజ్ఝిమ నికాయ (Majjhima Nikāya) సంఘుత్త నికాయ (Saṃyutta Nikāya) అంగుత్తర నికాయ (Aṅguttara Nikāya) ఖుద్దక నికాయ (Khuddaka Nikāya) – దీనిలో ధమ్మపదం, జాతక కథలు మొదలైనవి ఉంటాయి 3. అభిధమ్మ పిటకం (Abhidhamma Piṭaka) ఇది బుద్ధుని ధమ్మబోధనల తాత్విక, మానసిక విశ్లేషణతో కూడిన భాగం. ఇది బౌద్ధ తాత్త...
